I have worked and lived in many diverse places in Australia, from the Northern Territory to rural towns in New South Wales, and Canberra. Whilst living and working in these environments I have gained a strong appreciation and a sense of community in each place.
A key insight to me over the years of working and living in many diverse communities is when you are participating in community development and community engagement – is to respect the local knowledge, local culture and local skills and process. My experience
is that is that people know what works and what does not work and why in their communities. It is important to me that we listen and respond to people in a respectful manner.
I am so looking forward to being part of the “Cooking Circles” .
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has.” (Margaret Mead)
I am a professional with experience in Communications, Project Management and Governance in both public and private sectors. I feel it is important to participate in my community. I find time to be a foster carer, a member of my son’s Scouts committee and I help when I can at his school, I also volunteer my time to local charities and community groups.
I am a passionate cook, taking great pleasure from being in the kitchen. It is my place to relax and express myself. I love the sense of family and friendship that comes from creating and sharing food together.
